For E-type bearings with stamped steel cages, it is recommended to enlarge the inner hole of the bearing box to avoid contact between the cage and the bearing box due to machine shaft angular alignment errors. For bearings with an outer diameter not larger than 380mm, the recommended diameter is D+15mm. For larger bearings, D+20mm is recommended.
Lubricating
Thrust spherical roller bearings should generally be lubricated with engine oil. Grease lubrication can also be used under special circumstances, such as E-type bearings with stamped steel cages for light loads or low speeds.
If grease is used as lubricant, it must be ensured that there is sufficient supply of grease in the contact area between the roller end surface and the rib. For this purpose, the bearings and bearing boxes can be filled with grease according to the actual situation, or the grease can be replenished regularly.
For E-type bearings with stamped steel cages, the grease-lubricated rated speeds listed in the table apply to bearing configurations mounted on a horizontal shaft. For vertical crankshaft bearing arrangements, the value should be reduced by approximately half.
